God of War: Ascension

Why the hell did we sell our PS3?!?!?!

Well, we’re kicking ourselves now, because God of War: Ascension will be released on March 12, and it sounds like it’s going to be great.

If you didn’t pick up on it, Ascension is a prequel, detailing the story behind Kratos before the events of the first GOW. As such, it promises to give us a look at what Kratos was like before he was our favorite ragemonster. We’re supposed to see a softer side to him.

Another big difference for GOW: Ascension is the inclusion of a multi-player component. Director Todd Papy referred to it as “Kratos vs. Kratos” in an interview with a writer over at MercuryNews.com, where the multi-player option was explained in more detail:

The game director describes the multiplayer as having the feel of a fighting game. Players are jabbing at each other, not sure what their rivals are going to do. But as soon you pick up on what an opponent’s tendencies, the multiplayer opens up. Papy says it’s like “a dance back and forth” except in this two-step players are running around, grabbing power-ups and trying to eviscerate each other with blades.
